St lucia carnival consist of a number of bands showcasing their costume on the road with music playing. Each band is judged and there are prizes to win. The locals and foreigners use this time to show all skin and little clothing, painted bodies and dancing in the street, enjoying the culture. Most st lucia hotels and st lucia villas are full for this time as the gyrating event attracts tourist from the Caribbean, U.S. Canada and U.K. So is it like New Orleans or Rio? St Lucia has it's own flavor of Carnival with bands from neighboring islands and is a more Caribbean feel. You can tell that it's Caribbean because of the beautiful designed costumes with head pieces. St lucians are known to take this culture very seriously to the point where even government donates towards this occasion. It's a sight for sore eyes!!!
