Hotel price is more important than reviews

It's no doubt reviews can make or break a business today, with a myriad of online review sites available to the customer. However when 29% of customers state that online reviews assist in determining their hotel booking decision, this comes as little surprise. Sites like tripadvisor have broken the lakadisical attitude in the hotel and travel industry. However this is not to say that sites like tripadvisor have not become an engine for customers fabricating stories about an establishment's integrity.

However when 38% of customers show that price of the hotel room will determine booking decision, this not only gives hope to hotels with bad reviews, but the general marketer should take advantage of this finding. This shows perhaps a new methodology in the trend in which customers book accommodations. Perhaps hoteliers should consider this when making or adjusting prices to their services. So we ask the question: Is the saying low price means poor quality product/service still relevant today? Maybe not, especially in a down market where the consumer is looking for goods and services to meet his/her budget. However the need for good quality is still apparent. So would you go to a hotel with bad reviews but low hotel prices, yet good quality product/service?
